Public Consultation
In May 2025, Marco Living and Axis-RE acquired the former 3-acre, Mitchell’s Brewery site that forms part of the wider Canal Quarter regeneration district.
Since then, Marco Living and Axis-RE has worked closely and positively with Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council, Lancaster BID and key stakeholders including Grand Theatre, Duke’s Theatre and Music Co-op to design a mixed-use scheme that complements and supports the vision outlined in the Canal Quarter SPD (11/2021).
As part of that process, significant demolition and clearance works have been undertaken on the site which now enable residents and stakeholders to begin to see the vast potential of the site and the wider Canal Quarter.
This webpage has been created to provide residents and businesses with information about this exciting project in Lancaster’s Canal Quarter and invite them to provide comments on the emerging proposals ahead of the submission of planning and listed building consent applications to the Council in late Summer 2026.
Further information can be viewed on the consultation boards that you can view below. We will be holding an in-person event at the Dukes Theatre from 4 - 8pm on Thursday 9th July where further material will be available and you can discuss in more detail with Axis-RE, Marco Living, and members of their design team. There is also a feedback form that can be completed below to provide comments online.
