In May 2025, Marco Living and Axis-RE acquired the former 3-acre, Mitchell’s Brewery site that forms part of the wider Canal Quarter regeneration district.
Since then, Marco Living and Axis-RE has worked closely and positively with Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council, Lancaster BID and key stakeholders including Grand Theatre, Duke’s Theatre and Music Co-op to design a mixed-use scheme that complements and supports the vision outlined in the Canal Quarter SPD (11/2021).
As part of that process, significant demolition and clearance works have been undertaken on the site which now enable residents and stakeholders to begin to see the vast potential of the site and the wider Canal Quarter.
This webpage has been created to provide residents and businesses with additional information about the project and inform them that a new planning application will soon be submitted to the Council.
Once validated, full details of the proposed development will be available to view on the Council’s website.
